The Jewish New Year as a Call to Good Change— for You and for Our World

Rosh Hashanah literally means “the head of the year.”

It is a beginning point: a moment to pause, take stock, and choose how we want to enter the year ahead.

In Hebrew, shanah means “year.”

It is also connected to the roots:

lishnot—to repeat—and

leshanot—to change.

Some of our day to day patterns may repeat.

And yet, we also have the capacity—and the intention—to change.

Whether you have just begun your first year of college, a new job, or a new community—or whether you are continuing along a familiar path—I invite you to sit with that question.
